About meI’m a 27-year-old novice translator from Vammala, Finland and a native Finnish speaker. I have completed my Master's degree in March 2006 in Savonlinna School of Translation Studies, which is a part of University of Joensuu. My major subject is English, and as a minor subject I have, among others, completed the basic studies of Audiovisual Communication for Translators and Interpreters with the highest grade.
Education Master of Arts (English Studies and Translation), University of Joensuu, Savonlinna School of Translation Studies. The title of my thesis is Translation of Taboo Expressions in Väinö Linna’s Under the North Star, vol. 1. 2001-2006. My minor subjects include Audiovisual Communication for Translators and Interpreters (15 credit units, grade 5/5), Japanese Language and Culture (22 credit units, grade 3/5 – no translating skills), and the obligatory Finnish for Translators and Interpreters (10 credit units, passed), and Translation Studies (10 credit units, passed). Business College Degree half of the studies completed. Tampere College, Institute of Commerce. I did not graduate, since I started studying translation and interpretation in Savonlinna after one year. 2000-2001 High School, Tampere, Finland 1995-1998
